Speaking on the sidelines of an international conference on Iraqs development and reconstruction in Sweden, Babacan said promised made by Turkey to provide more water to Syria were not related to the peace negotiations and should not be made an issue of domestic politics.
Following meetings with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Babacan said Turkey had made a significant contribution to Iraq and had done its best to assist in setting up a structure which would bring peace to Iraq.
Turkey and Iraq were now working on a high-level strategic dialogue mechanism which would be led by the prime ministers of the two country and would convene regularly, he said.
