Turkish Cypriot President heading to Brussels for talks

The TRNC’s relations with the EU are expected to top the agenda of the talks.

LEFKOŞA - President Mehmet Ali Talat of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will be heading to Brussels Monday for meetings with senior European Union officials.

President Talat has been invited to Brussels by Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, whose country currently holds the EU’ rotating term presidency.

Talat is scheduled to hold talks with Slovakia’s Foreign Minister Jan Kubis on Monday afternoon, and with Rupel on Tuesday morning.

Talat’s talks in Brussels will focus on TRNC’s relations with the EU and latest developments in resolving the Cyprus dispute.
