The match, played in the German city of Bielefeld, saw Turkish coach Fatih Terim, give most of his line up a run, with 15 players taking the pitch at some time during the evening.
Though the Turks had the better of the play, and far more possession than their Slovakian opponents, it was not until the 63rd minute that defender Hakan Kadir Balta popped up to score the only goal of the match.
Another to have good game, was veteran keeper Recber Rustu, who was playing in place of injured first choice custodian Volkan Demirel. The aging and at times injury prone Rustu pulled off a number of strong saves, including a late headed shot on goal from Slovakian midfielder Martin Petras.
